Search Files and Folders

Product update live since 11 February 2026

As your Edcafe workspace grows, finding the right material quickly becomes just as important as creating it. With this update, Edcafe now includes a Search feature that helps you search files and folders from one place, without manually browsing through your library.

This improvement is designed to support everyday teaching workflows, especially when materials are created over time or organized across multiple folders.

How Search Works in Edcafe

Search opens in a single panel with two tabs, making it easy to move between files and folders without guessing where something might be stored.

Search Files Across Your Workspace

From the Files tab, you can search for materials you’ve already created, including lesson plans, slide decks, quizzes, flashcards, reading activities, and summary notes.

You can also reopen recent files when you’re not sure what to search for yet, helping you quickly return to work you were just using.

Search and Access Folders Directly

Search also works for folders. Switch to the Folders tab to look up folders by name or return to folders you’ve recently opened.

This makes it easier to navigate large libraries, move between different teaching materials, and stay organized without breaking your workflow.

Quick Access Without Losing Context

When you open a file or folder from Search, the search panel closes automatically so you can continue working without interruption. Clearing the search returns you to your recent items, keeping navigation lightweight and focused.

Ideas for Your Teaching Workflow

Here are a few practical ways teachers are using Search in Edcafe:

  • Reopen lesson plans or quizzes used earlier in the term without browsing folders.
  • Jump between folders when preparing materials for multiple classes.
  • Find resources quickly during lesson preparation or review.
  • Navigate growing libraries without reorganizing everything first.

Why This Matters

As teachers create more teaching materials across lessons, terms, and subjects, time spent navigating folders can quickly add up. Search reduces that friction by keeping everything easy to find and quick to access.

Whether you’re revisiting past lessons, preparing for upcoming classes, or organizing content mid-term, Search helps you stay efficient without changing how you work.

More workflow improvements are on the way as we continue refining how teachers manage and reuse their materials in Edcafe.

Will Search show deleted files or folders?

No. Only files and folders that currently exist in your workspace will appear in search results.

Can I open multiple files from Search?

You can open one file or folder at a time. After opening an item, the search panel closes so you can continue working.
